Frequent Disconnections of MTNL broadband services are becoming quite often now. Even I faced this problem who is paying a hefty amount for the apartment in the posh area. I am not a technician or a network Engineer to diagnose a problem. But I can share some remedies to get rid from this problem.
First of all whenever you are facing this problem there are several reasons like. Inability to connect to central servers or telephone is noisy or line is having earthing problem etc.
To resolve this issue what you can do is check your telephone wiring. The main telephone line should first go into ADSL filter then separate them between Phone and Router. This will not only reduce your problem but will increase the speed as well and do organize the wiring in a proper manner avoid making rolls of extra wire if any.
Secondly when the line is noisy, the problem here is due to carbon in copper wires which has to be cleaned after regular intervals. If the lines are in your reach then take dry cotton and clean the copper part of wire which is exposed in open air or make a complaint on IVR they will help in cleaning the wire at main distribution box.
Not every time carbon makes problem there are time where there is problem in earthing. We all know that telephone lines do carry a charge and the charge has to travel in proper channel the only remedy is to make a complaint on IVR system.
If not your line then comes your router, Please make sure that router settings are updated as per the new DNS or IP addresses that are provided on 1504. But check it by pinging the servers while you are online with the engineer. One of my friends told me to keep all the settings to dynamic as the MTNL supports dynamic IP address system and use the same method works for me.
You can even use DNS settings provided by other providers like Open DNS to resolve your DNS issue. Very few people know the MTNL regional unit helps in testing of routers provided by MTNL or personal ones so that one can identify and rectify the router specific issues. Last but not least my experience says after logging a complaint with 1504, please do log complaint with IVR under broadband then opt for other problems. The service provided by Regional Hub is much faster than 1504 guys.
Although the above article is not a foolproof I request other MTNL broadband users to post their solutions or comments with us.
