How to get rid of “File Corrupted” error in Nokia 5800

I have been trying to install several applications on my Nokia 5800 XM but had a tough time doing it as I was always getting ‘File corrupted’ error.

I started investigating everywhere and didn’t find a satisfactory answer from anyone. I rechecked my steps and found out that the problem was only when I was installing in Memory card. I tried installing the application in Phone Memory and everything seems to be fine.

If this didn’t work for you, try the trick suggested by many i.e., reformatting your phone after taking backup of all the crucial data.

  • I tried that but no luck. I haven’t been able to install anything on my mobile. I even updated to latest firmware. I try to install applications which worked for others. But don’t work on my phone. :(

    • Sorry for being so late, but do you still have this problem?

        Yes, I do

won’t the phone become too slow if we go on installing all the applications in phone memory?

    • Yes it would definitely slow down. Its not a definite fix but for those who are really fed up of everything technical floating around. This one is a temporary fix till you find something that works.

    REGARDING THE “CORRUPT FILE” FIX:

you have a virus, and it sucks, but you need to completely reformat everything that is in contact with the virus….in many cases, you can’t even turn on the phone with it being on your memory card (with virus on it)….I had this issue, and cleared it RIGHT UP….I downloaded a bogus app. and reformatted my card APPLICATION>FILE MANAGER>E:MEMORY CARD>OPTIONS>MEMORY CARD OPTIONS>FORMAT

BACKUPS WILL NOT WORK AFTER, AND WILL BE CLEARED OFF ANY BACKUP INFO THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN SAVED….But, everything will work 100% again

Which memory card was that? Did you use the one supplied by nokia, when you bought the phone? Or did you buy a new one? What is the speed specification of the card? (2,4,6,8 in a circle) written in the memory card . It may be that the speed of the memory card is a factor. I'm using speed spec-2 . I think the recommended one is 4. anything higher costs more and is unnecessery for phones.

    • I'm using the one supplied by Nokia itself. It has a speed spec-2 as well.

Im having the same problem too… using the bundled nokia 8gb class6 card. Randomly corrupts files every week!! Have tried hard reset, formated with SD-Formater tool and still no success.

Does changing it to a slower/lower class 4 would work?

in mine i hav uninstalled d app but its icon still remains …if i delete it it says file corrupted

    • There is no official solution to this. But you can do one thing connect your mobile phone with computer thru USB and select option of “Mass Storage” then my computer -> Right click on drive ->under properties ->select tools tab -> select error checking option -> let it complete and restart the phone -> if the problem still persists -> remove the battery for 2 minutes and then restart.

The problem is now gone on my 5800 after i replaced the memcard (nokia supplied 8gb class6) with a lower and slower memcard (toshiba 4gb class4). Hard to find 8gb class4 where i am at.
