Finally, after such a long and dull year of bollywood, we have ‘3 Idiots’ which takes away all the sorrow and brings a smile on everyone’s face. This is the first time that I am feeling so excited about a film that I can’t even figure out an instant from where to start reviewing this piece of brilliance.
The film is based on the framework of Chetan Bhagat’s ‘Five Point Someone’ which already had such a refreshing feel to it that could shake any standing hit in the bollywood. Rajkumar Hirani utilizes this theme, adding to it his own sensibilities and creativity to render a new master piece called the ‘3 idiots’.
It’s a story about three students – Rancho, Farhan and Raju , and their experiences in an engineering college. Right from ragging to their convocation, it’s filled with fun, hungama and emotional moments. Prof. Sahstrabuddhe aka VIRUS (Boman Irani) wants everyone to be number one and is finding a student who could be as capable as himself to gift his pen which could even write in moon. Pia is a medical student who happens to be VIRUS’s daughter falls in love with Rancho.
Here is how my interest levels were at different parts of the film
The story revolves around these characters with an added bonus called Chatur Ramalingam who is a bright student (rather who mugs up everything!) and whose comic dialect delights everyone to the core. Not to forget Millimetre who is the life of this film with his solid dialogues and presence.
The underlying theme of the film is about the pressure faced by students and how parents and teachers force their wish over children rather than allowing them to pursue their interests. The film doesn’t stand up as a preachy fare but believes in bringing out the message through jokes and refreshing moments!
Aamir Khan (Rancho), Madhavan (Farhan) , Sharman Joshi (Raju), Boman Irani(Prof, Sahstrabuddhe), Kareena Kapoor(Pia) and Mona Singh(Mona) were excellent. Especially, Aamir Khan with his curious role did a wonderful job. Kareena Kapoor exceptionally handled different parts of her role and others were apt with their roles.
The VFX works, background score and all other technical departments were top notch. Music by Shantanu Moitra which I didn’t like much was awesome on screen and worked well with the film. Dialogues were the soul of this film.
I won’t reveal much about this film as I don’t want you guys to go with a pre-conceived notion about this film. Go with a celebratory mood and this film will surely elevate that mood.
On the whole, ‘3 idiots’ is an excellent way to celebrate the festive season. I wish I could go rating this gem beyond 5 stars. Aal Iz well with this film and definitely one of the best movies released this year. Don’t miss this at any cost!!
