Its almost two weeks with the Nokia Xpress Music 5800 has been launched. As It was said to be the iPhone killer, I had the curiosity increasing as iPhone didn’t receive quite a good welcome in India and I wanted something really to beat it even more as I was depressed with its sky high rates and lack of features.
So finally, I brought the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music device and what was to be followed was a completely different experience from what I had earlier from normal mobile phones.
My first few days were spent reading the manuals digging the inner strengths and the hidden features in the mobile phone. Rest was just to play with the phone.
Here are the pros and cons of the mobile which I felt after using the phone for almost two weeks now.
Extremely sensitive touch screen
Good keypad locking slider on the side(just like those Sony Ericsson Walkman phones)
Elegant and Sleek design
Virtual QWERTY keyboard
Nice handwriting recognition
Good set of surround speakers
200 Preloaded songs! (Yes, this one was the best part for a music freak like me. Right from those golden 80s to the present day hits, you can find everything in this collection. And to all Rahman fans out there, Connections is also included in it. )
Extremely useful stylus
Media Bar touch key (to access music and internet)
Noisy camera (What more can we expect from a 3.15 MP camera but its yet to be tested outdoors so I leave it as a Con right now.)
Less width of the screen
The backside of the phone is prone to get dirty easily (even with a cover)
No screen guard provided with the device (There is one with curvy lines on it which has to be replaced to see the real beauty of the phone)
Overall, I am totally impressed by the device and the features in it. It totally overpowers iPhone in features as well as in the price tag (way cheaper than iPhone in India;costs 22,000 INR (Approx. with taxes)) .
And the cream on the pie, there are several free and highly useful applications available for this phone like Wavesecure, SMS timer & a game called Marble Maze which I will cover in my next post.
