Postgraduate Diploma in Management & Executive Postgraduate Diploma in Management This is the flagship programme of the Institute, comparable to the MBA level programmes of premier business schools in India and abroad. While the programme is based on the standard model of management education as practised by our peers, our programme is distinguished by its rigour and discipline. The Institute has created an environment where the faculty demand and get the extra work and students demand the latest from the faculty. The programme updates its syllabus regularly to reflect the changes and challenges in business environment.

Postgraduate Diploma in Rural Management Traditionally, industry has been the main focus of management science. Xavier Institute of Management made an innovative departure by emphasizing the need to expand the use of management science to rural sector in the form of creating managers not only for corporate sector but also for the social sector. The basic objective of introducing the two years PGPRM course is to inject professionalism in the field of rural economy. It is now well recognized that professionalism and professional interventions are going to have key place in shaping the future of rural India. The present initiative of PGPRM in XIMB is an exception to the traditional treatment of the management education. This has not only created a special place for the Institute among the galaxy of management Institutes in India, and abroad, but also has fulfilled one of the basic needs of the Indian economy.

Fellow Programme Management XIMB’s new fellow programme draws upon national and international experience in doctoral-level education in management and related disciplines. The programme is designed to provide a rich exposure to the methodological issues in management research, apart from the necessary subject-specific training. Selected students will attend Research Training Seminars round the year. There is an emphasis on imparting in-depth knowledge on the relevant academic debates in the area of research selected by the student. This is operationalised through intensive Research Review Seminars. Students will also benefit from a Pedagogical Training component. Overall, our fellow programme is oriented towards developing transferable research skills. The Institute will make a limited number of research assistantships available to deserving students.

Admission Procedure Postgraduate Diploma in Management Admission procedure for batch 2008-10

Eligibility The minimum requirement for admission to the Programme is: A three-year Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline from a recognized University. Candidates who expect to complete the final part of their degree examinations by June 15, 2008, may also apply. Offers of admission to such candidates, if made, will be provisional and will be automatically cancelled in the event of their failing to complete all the requirements for obtaining the degree before June 15.

Admission Test Applicants are required to take the Admission Test (XAT) to be conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur, on 6th January, 2008. For this, applicants have to log on to www.xlri.edu and apply online for XAT. Registering for XAT is a prerequisite for applying to XIMB.

XIMB Application Applicants have to also apply (online) separately for XIMB programme at: www.ximb.ac.in Upon successfully filling the online application form the payment advice form can be downloaded. The applicant must take a printout of the same payment advice form and mail it to the Admissions Office, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar-751013, accompanied by the application fee (non-refundable) in one of the following ways:

Selection Process The institute will decide the section wise as well as total cut-off marks, which will be used for shortlisting candidates to be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview. GD & PI will held at Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai. Candidates will have to meet their own travel expenses for appearing in the GD & PI. The final selection will be on the candidate’s performance in the XAT as well as Group Discussion and Personal Interview(which factors in the past academic record and relevant work experience). Executive Postgraduate Diploma in Management Admission procedure for batch 2008-11

Eligibility The minimum requirements for admission to the three-year part-time PGDM programme are:

  1. A three-year Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in any discipline from a recognised University.
  2. At least three years of experience in executive capacity in an organisation of repute in the public, private or non-governmental sector. Self-employed persons with minimum five years experience after obtaining qualifying degree can also be considered.
  3. Age limit: Between 24 and 45 years as on 01.07.2008.
  4. Sponsorship or No Objection certificate from the employer for pursuing this course at XIMB.

Application Procedure Applicants have to apply online for the XIMB programme, by logging on to www.ximb.ac.in . Upon successfully filling the online application form the payment advice form can be downloaded. The applicant must take a printout of the same payment advice and mail it to the Admissions Office, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar-751013, accompanied by the application fee (non-refundable) in one of the following forms:

Programme Design This three-year part-time programme is designed for executives, working anywhere in the country. The curriculum is similar to our two-year full-time PGDM programme. The participants will reside in the campus for 15 days at a time, thrice a year (45 days in a year). In the intervening period, they are expected to complete the assigned readings and projects.

Admission The Programme will begin around the first week of July 2008. At this time the students will be given a Manual of Policies which will be binding on them.

Three-Year (Part-Time) Programme for Postgraduate Diploma in Management, with weekend classes This 3-year non-residential part-time programme is tailor-made for practicing managers, living in and around Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, and aspiring to become business leaders of tomorrow. The programme leads to Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), and provides an opportunity for working professionals, with the potential to assume senior management responsibilities, to pursue a PGDM programme, without interrupting their current professional career. The programme curriculum is similar and is as rigorous as the regular 2-year full-time PGDM programme.

Eligibility: The minimum requirements for admission to the three-year part-time PGDM programme are: a. A three-year recognized Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline; b. At least three years of experience in executive capacity in an organisation of repute in the public, private or non-governmental sector. Self-employed persons with minimum 5 years experience after obtaining qualifying degree can also be considered; c. Age limit: Between 24 and 45 years as on 1.8.2007.

Application Procedure: Application form and bulletin can be obtained from the Admissions Office on payment of Rs.1000/- in cash, or in the form of Demand Draft in favour of “Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar”. The last date for accepting completed application form is June 30, 2007.

Selection Process: The final selection will be based on the candidate’s past academic performance, relevant work experience, and performance in the interview. The interviews are scheduled around 7th and 8th July 2007. The candidates would be intimated by e-mail about their interview schedule and it will also be posted on the institutes’ website.

Admission: The candidates who are selected for admission to the three-year PGDM programme will have to indicate their acceptance of the admission offer with related conditions, by paying the first instalment of the fees as stipulated in the letter of admission. The Programme will begin on August 4, 2007. At this time the students will be given a Manual of Policies and Regulations, which will be binding on them.
